The X-factor for Flow
Have you noticed how most initiatives in flow and agility focus exclusively on new processes and skills ? Have you also noticed how the people use these ? In the same way they used the last lot of processes and so we get so,e change, but mostly we are now just wrapping the old process in new paper.
People create flow! Yes, processes help! A bad process will hinder flow and stall it, but there is always that handful of ‘go to’ people who somehow get it to work. Note I said people, not a go to process.
Processes and structures and systems will either support and improve flow or prevent and hinder it!
Put ‘good’ people in a bad system and flow will happen, with immense effort and waste.
Put ‘bad’ people into an agile system and you will get flow, with effort and waste.
Put awesome people into an awesome system and magic happens!
The question is, how much focus are you putting in generating awesome people? Or is it just easier and less frightening to focus on somthing tangible lie processes and skills training ?
